Personnel Committee Bylaws

  1. Membership in the Personnel Committee (PC) is conferred only to tenured faculty in the department, and we abide by University policy AA/PPS 04.02.20 ยง02.01, which defines voting members of the PC as tenured faculty who (a) hold academic rank in a department at a rate of 50 percent or more, (b) do not hold an administrative appointment outside of their college, (c) have at least one year of service at Texas State University since the official start date of the faculty appointment, and (d) have taught eight sections of courses at the college or university level.  
  2. An official PC meeting can be called by the Department Chair, the PC Chair, or by request of 50.1% of the roster of eligible PC voting members rounded upward to the nearest whole person.
  3. The number of PC members necessary for a quorum is 50.1% of the roster of eligible PC voting members rounded upward to the nearest whole person.
  4. The number of PC members necessary for a measure to pass is 50.1% of eligible PC voting members rounded upward to the nearest whole person who are present at an online, face-to-face, or hybridized meeting.
  5. An election of the PC chair shall be conducted every fall.
  6. The removal of the PC chair can be accomplished at any time in a meeting by a vote of 50.1% of the members of the PC rounded up to the nearest whole person and an election for a new chair will occur immediately.
  7. These bylaws can be amended at any time with a vote of 50.1% of the members of the PC rounded up to the nearest whole person.
