Program Overview
Following an exceptional inaugural program in Summer of 2025, Finance and Economics will be taking students to London, the Financial Center of the world. Dr. Janet Payne will teach two undergraduate classes in Finance and Dr. Iqbal Ahmed will teach two undergraduate courses in Economics. We will also offer courses in Quantitative Finance and Economics for students in Master’s degree programs.
Students can earn six hours of upper-level or graduate level business credit. The program includes business site visits in London, Manchester and Liverpool, cultural excursions such as a visit to Stonehenge and Bath, some meals, and great friendships.
Program Faculty


Dr. Janet Payne
Professor, Finance and Economics
Dr. Payne is a Professor of Finance specializing in Corporate Finance. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance and has been teaching at Texas State since 2001. She has participated in and led study abroad programs in Prague, Czech Republic and London, England.
Dr. Iqbal Ahmed
Assistant Professor, Finance and Economics
Dr. Iqbal Ahmed is an Assistant Professor of Economics specializing in Applied Macroeconomics. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and has been teaching at Texas State University since 2018. Dr. Ahmed has extensive industry experience as a policy analyst for public and private organizations across Asia, Africa, and the United Kingdom.

Courses Offered
McCoy College of Business undergraduate students will earn up to 6 credit hours from two courses from the following:
- FIN 3301 Real Estate
- FIN 4331 International Finance
- ECO 3317 International Economics
- ECO4305 Urban and Regional Economics
- FIN 5347C Real Estate Investment
- QFE 5395 Independent Study
Tentative Dates
Includes four-day field trip to Manchester, including one day in Liverpool.

- First Day of Classes Abroad: May 29, 2026
- Last Day of Classes Abroad: June 25, 2026
- Return from Program: June 26, 2026
Expected Cost

Cost is tentative and subject to change.
Cost includes:
- Tuition and fees for six credit hours
- Lodging in London in Zones 1 or 2
- Scheduled business visits
- Visit to Bath and Stonehenge
- Three weeks Oyster card (public transport) Zones 1 and 2
- Medical insurance during the program
Cost does not include:
- Flights to and from London
- Personal excursions and expenses
- Passport application fees
- Textbooks
- Meals
