January 17, 2025

SAN MARCOS, Texas — The McCoy College of Business at Texas State University has announced seven new endowed professorships awarded to its faculty members, as well as three new faculty fellowships.

Each endowed professorship carries a one-year or three-year term, as noted below. Faculty fellowships carry a one-year term.

Dr. Josh Daspit

Associate Professor, Management
Sam Barshop Excellence Professorship in Entrepreneurship

Family Business Emphasis

For this one-year professorship, Dr. Josh Daspit has offered a robust research and outreach plan in alignment with McCoy College's strategic interest in establishing an Institute of Family Business. He is currently one of the top globally rated scholars in family business, and his plan will drive further recognition for the college in that area of research.

Dr. Andrew Ojede

Associate Professor, Finance and Economics
Dean Paul R. Gowens Excellence Professorship in Business Administration

Dr. Andrew Ojede’s plan for this three-year professorship directly contributes to two strategic goals of the college: student success and research eminence. His plan to focus on the academic success of our students in courses with high drop-fail-withdraw (DFW) rates through tutoring will aid both the students receiving the tutoring and the graduate students conducting the tutoring.

Dr. Ju Long

Professor, Information Systems and Analytics
Steven R. "Steve" Gregg, Sr., Excellence Professorship

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Emphasis

Dr. Ju Long plans to use this three-year professorship to advance McCoy College’s strategic goal of integrating AI through the development of a platform that facilitates faculty and departmental engagement with AI tools. This initiative aims to strengthen the college’s ability to effectively implement and leverage AI technologies. Dr. Long’s research in healthcare and AI highlights the potential of these technologies, aligning with the college’s commitment to staying at the forefront of innovation.

Dr. Jake Waddingham

Assistant Professor, Management
Garland Hunnicutt, Ph.D., Professorship in Management

In his plan for this three-year professorship, Dr. Jake Waddingham seeks to allow more time to research and write for elite-level publications, which he has already consistently and successfully targeted. The plan also includes involving students in research, which will help those interested in advanced degrees. Dr. Waddingham is already working with a traditional news outlet to translate academic research into practical relevance, which fits well with the college's goal of deepening community impact.

Dr. Emmanuel Alanis

Associate Professor, Finance and Economics
Tom and Jo Roddy Professorship in Finance

FinTech Emphasis

Dr. Emmanuel Alanis has published works on machine learning in finance and, more recently, a book on Python programming to aid others’ efforts in using the tool. Dr. Alanis has other FinTech-oriented projects underway in the area of natural language processing and banking, and he is working with the Center for Analytics and Data Science and the commercial banking program within the department. He is poised to make significant contributions to the college's priorities in these areas through this three-year professorship.

Dr. Dincer Konur

Associate Professor and Assistant Chair, Information Systems and Analytics
Brandon Dee Roberts Excellence Professorship

Dr. Dincer Konur plans to use his three-year professorship to focus on supply chain analytics research, as well as hosting a professional endeavor on par with a one-day research symposium. His plan demonstrates an integrated approach to research and programmatic advances in the area of supply chain. Given the college's interest in supply chain and improving its research profile, Dr. Konur's plan promotes the college's strategic priorities.

Dr. Sidney Anderson

Associate Professor, Marketing
Scott Emerson Professorship in Business Administration

Dr. Sidney “Skip” Anderson is currently leading the college's AI Taskforce and actively conducting research in how AI impacts various marketing functions. For this three-year professorship, Dr. Anderson’s plan complements the college’s strategic goals in student success and achieving research eminence. His engagement with industry provides a very practical understanding of how students can be better prepared to meet industry needs. His work also identifies key trends from a research perspective that will transform consumer experiences and how firms engage with their customers.
