SAN MARCOS, Texas — Five nationally distinguished Latino entrepreneurs are launching three endowments at Texas State University's McCoy College of Business. These endowments, supported by matching funds from the McCoy College of Business Foundation, total $150,000.

The endowments, listed below, will provide perpetual scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students at McCoy College of Business:

Mark Madrid serves on the McCoy College of Business Foundation Board of Directors and is CEO of Breakthrough Mavens, LLC, and former Associate Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

"This 'collective force of good' underscores a profound commitment to empowering future generations through education," Madrid wrote in a LinkedIn post about the gifts. "This endowment is a testament to what is possible when you believe, put your money where your mouth is, and engage in true-impact giving. My fellow donors are distinguished first in heart, they are the cream of the crop in entrepreneurship, and upper echelon in generosity. We understand the criticality and urgency of paying it forward, never forgetting where we come from, and winning in the good battlefield. 'Si se puede!' ('Yes, it can be done!'). We are proud and energized with this gift which is rooted in ganas (grit), resilience, and hope."

Madrid expressed the collective's heartfelt dedication to this cause: "Education has the power to transform lives, and I am living proof of that. For over a decade, I have devoted my time, treasure, and talent to Texas State University, sponsoring the HBSA Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) for corporate trips across the nation. As a board member of the McCoy College of Business Foundation, we are committed to elevating the university and the business school to a standard of excellence that is unparalleled nationally and globally."

The McCoy College of Business Foundation’s mission is to manage endowment gifts and support fundraising to enhance the vision, mission, and academic excellence of the McCoy College of Business, which is dedicated to empowering diverse students of exceptional promise to become leaders and innovators who create enduring value for business and society.

Through these endowments, Madrid, Montes, Valencia, Astudillo, and Gonzalez are investing in the future because they believe in the power and multi-generational impact of a great education.

"This initiative is a powerful testament to what is achievable when visionary leaders — who don’t wait for change — unite and get it done," Madrid wrote. "In so doing, they are living their legacy now in championing the next generation of business leaders."
