SAN MARCOS, Texas — On Monday, Sept. 28, the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University received official acknowledgment from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) for two name changes — one for the college, and the other for a department. These changes were previously approved by the Texas State University System Board of Regents a few weeks earlier. The changes are effective immediately.
COLLEGE NAME CHANGE
The Emmett and Miriam McCoy College of Business Administration is now the Emmett and Miriam McCoy College of Business. In most instances, the name should be listed as the McCoy College of Business on first reference and just "McCoy College" (or "the McCoy College") in subsequent references. This change is a formality; the college has rarely included “Administration” in its title in recent years.
DEPARTMENT NAME CHANGE
The Department of Computer Information Systems and Quantitative Methods is now the Department of Information Systems and Analytics. McCoy College is developing a new website and new signage in McCoy Hall to account for this change. However, the change will require numerous updates across many websites, platforms, publications, and media/mediums that will take time to fully address.
