Pat Oles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Barshop & Oles Company, a privately held Texas based commercial real estate development, investment and management firm.
Since 1983, the Company and its affiliates have developed, owned or managed more than five million square feet of shopping centers, industrial, office and hotel properties as well as several highly acclaimed master-planned projects in Texas, including the highly acclaimed Central Park in Austin and Northwoods in San Antonio. Prior to forming Barshop & Oles Company, Oles served on the senior staff of the Governor of Texas William P. Clements, Jr. as Director of Governmental Appointments from 1980-1982.
Throughout his career, Mr. Oles has provided leadership and support for numerous governmental, business, higher-education, and civic organizations. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC) and as Senior Advisor of SouthWest Water Company. Previously, he served ten years on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Lower Colorado River Authority, Chairman of Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Trustee of Texas Nature Conservancy, Advisory Board of Directors of JPMorgan Chase and Chairman of the Austin chapter of Young Presidents Organization, among other positions.
Mr. Oles was educated at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a BBA in Finance. He has served the University of Texas as Chairman of UT Elementary School Development Council since 2007, and as former Chair of UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee and UT Austin Development Board. Mr. Oles holds the McCoy Professorship for Studies in Entrepreneurship in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University and serves as Vice President of the McCoy College of Business Development Board.
Pat is a native Texan, born and raised in Amarillo, and resides in Austin. His wife, Julie, has been an active volunteer and leader in many local, state and national nonprofit organizations for many years. They have three adult children: Sterling Oles O’Hara, Catherine Brooke Oles, and Charles Patrick Oles III.

Dan Roy currently serves as Co-Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Texas State University and as Entrepreneur-in-Residence in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University. He is a graduate of St. Mary's University in San Antonio where he received a BBA in Corporate Financial Management. After a brief stint in corporate banking, Dan returned to Texas and embarked on a 25-year entrepreneurial journey in which he started three successful companies that were each deeply committed to the core values of integrity, caring, and excellence.
His first company would go on to achieve local and regional prominence. It was ranked the 29th fastest-growing staffing firm in the United States, awarded “Regional Large Business of the Year” by the Texas Association of Business, and recognized as a distinguished employer by the Texas Workforce Commission. In January 2017, after 23 years as CEO, he retired from the Board of Directors following the completion of the sale of the company to one of the largest employee-owned staffing organizations in the country.
Dan founded two additional companies: a specialty crating and assembly firm, which provided solutions to manufacturers, and a retail research and development company focused on the human capital challenges of the retail industry. The retail company developed and tested staffing models for many top brands and was instrumental in securing the adoption of the Customer Service and Skills Standards in Texas.
Dan also was part of a national effort to develop a certification credentialing program that provides foundational employability skills to help people land jobs and receive promotions in retail stores and beyond. To date, over 50,000 jobseekers have been trained nationally as a result of these efforts. Dan has served on the State Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Business, as Chairman of the Board for the Greater San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, and on numerous community and non-profit boards.
Dan has earned a reputation for innovation and organizational development. He has a strong record of visionary leadership in education as well as in economic and organizational development. He advises on organizational alignment, strategy, and innovation. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for an independent K-8 school, and he serves as an Advisory Director for the San Marcos region of Frost Bank, the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, and numerous startups in the Austin area.
