Pat Oles

Pat Oles is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Barshop & Oles Company, a privately held commercial real estate development, investment, and management firm based in Texas.

Since 1983, the company and its affiliates have successfully developed, owned, and/or managed over five million square feet of shopping centers and industrial, office, and hotel properties. This includes several highly acclaimed mixed‐use projects in Texas, such as Central Park in Austin and Northwoods in San Antonio. Before forming Barshop & Oles Company with his real estate partner and mentor, Sam Barshop, Mr. Oles served on the executive staff of former Governor of Texas, William P. Clements, Jr., as Director of Governmental Appointments from 1980‐1982.

Mr. Oles has provided leadership and support for numerous governmental, business, higher education, and civic organizations throughout his career. He is a Senior Advisor of SouthWest Water Company, and he served ten years on the Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Lower Colorado River Authority. He has also served as the Chairman of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Trustee of Texas Nature Conservancy, the Advisory Board of Directors of JPMorgan Chase, and Chairman of the Austin chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), among many other positions.

Mr. Oles was educated at The University of Texas at Austin, receiving a BBA in Finance. He has served The University of Texas as Chair of the UT Elementary School Development Council, Chair of the UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, and Chair of the UT Austin Development Board. Mr. Oles holds the McCoy Professorship for Studies in Entrepreneurship in the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University and served as a Director and Vice President of the McCoy College of Business Development Board.

Pat is a native Texan and resides in Austin with his wife, Julie, who has been an active volunteer and leader in many local, state, and national nonprofit organizations for many years. They have three children: Sterling Oles O’Hara, Brooke Oles Broscious, and Charles Patrick Oles III. ✯
